I went bird watching in Mt. Auburn cemetery from 7-9am this morning. Saw a kingfisher again, this time a male. A number of the other usual suspects, too, but no interesting fall migrants.

I also came upon this red-tailed hawk bathing in a fountain.

He seemed pretty much unfazed by me walking up to get some pictures; one of the groundskeepers who drove by on a lawn tractor stopped to comment that he's quite a regular there.

This makes me really wish I carried my camera around with me more often--two weeks ago I saw a snake making its way across the arts quad here at Cornell, and it was sitting still for quite a while... (People who didn't check out what I was staring at probably thought I was crazy just standing there watching a patch of grass, but that's their problem)
