A thunderstorm woke me up at 4am, and I had to run around and close windows, but I still made it to the 9am talk on spam filtering.

When I went to retrieve my bike from where I'd locked up under the canopy opposite the Marriott front door, it had warning stickers on it. (No, it wasn't blocking anything; I'd wedged it into a narrow space between a wall and a sign post.) No harm done, and at least they crossed out the bit that read, "security we will cut the locks you will be" but it's the sort of thing that puts me in the mood to write nasty letters to their management.

Overall, this Usenix has seemed less exciting than previous ones; I don't like the new schedule, and the lack of vendors was depressing. I did enjoy the morning plenary sessions a lot, though, and google's shiny things made up for the lack of other vendor schwag.

for what little it isn't worth, when i was going to a great deal of the boston hotels to do lighting gigs last year, i found that most of them did have bike parking, at least minimally, in their parking garages.
