I still haven't sorted through all the pictures from my weekend trip with family, but here's one of the butterflies that I stalked on Sunday. He's an American Copper, Lycaena phlaeas, and I took the picture at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, RI.
I'm fairly sure I've seen them many times before, but I was lucky to get close enough to photograph this one, since they seem to be skittish.
