I haven't actually been out finding new things; these pictures are from July 11th, when I was at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in RI.

The plant is Comfrey, Symphytum officinale; I was introspecting about the identification process, and went looking for things I'd meant to look up (I think it defeated my first attempt).

My series of pictures of it capture everything but the feature that the field guide claims is most distinctive; there should be a pair of leaves sticking up above the curled spray of flowers, while the lower leaves clearly alternate.

I did get plenty of close-ups of the flower itself, but it's somewhat variable.

HI, looking at your pictures i have a question, i'm looking for comfrey in Colombia (south america) but the ones i have see here doesnt have the flowers, do you know something about??

I'm not an expert, sorry. This was my one encounter with that plant, over four years ago.
